Mounting of an original skeleton of a cave bear
Mounting of an original skeleton of a cave bear with a minimal visible support made of carbon-fiber.
For the Museum of Natural History in Coburg / Germany
The Museum of Natural History Coburg / Germany commissioned us to assemble a newly acquired skeleton of a cave bear Ursus spelaeus for the exhibition.
The skeleton of the bear should stand upright and the bones were not allowed to be drilled or glued, as is usual with original fossil bones.
To this, the supporting frame should be visible as little as possible.
For these reasons, we made a support frame made of high-strength carbon fiber, which was precisely adapted to each individual bone and was colored in the bone color.
The resultant carrying structure is hardly visible.
The fossil is exhibited at the Natural History Museum in Coburg / Germany
